Questions about the Meta Ad Library
What is the Meta Ad Library?
The Meta Ad Library is Meta’s public archive of the ads running on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network. Anyone can search it without an account, and every active ad from every advertiser is listed there.
How is this different from Meta’s own Ad Library?
Meta’s Ad Library searches by advertiser name or keyword and lists ads newest first. This tool starts from a website, groups the copies of each creative together, and puts the longest-running ads first, because an ad an advertiser keeps paying for is usually one that works.
Can I search the Meta Ad Library by website?
Not directly: Meta’s library is organized by Facebook page. This tool matches a website to the Facebook page that advertises it, then shows that page’s active ads. Sites in the ProvenHits library show their full history; any other site is read live from the Ad Library.
How do I see how long a Facebook ad has been running?
Every ad in the Meta Ad Library has a start date. This tool turns that into days running for each active ad and sorts by it, so the ads a competitor has kept running the longest are at the top.
Is it free?
Yes. Lookups are free with no signup. Opening an individual ad’s full breakdown (hook, angle, offer and landing page) needs a free account.
